(If it's part of your character's backstory that is fine, but I'd appreciate a heads up)

in character
Canon Point:I generally play her at a nebulous season 4/5 point, but I am open to all canon points besides the revival (unless you can help me find the right icons, then I would revival away with you)
Shipping:Absolutely! Canon-wise, MSR supremacy. Also open to less likely ships like Scully/Skinner or Scully/Reyes. I also love cross-canon shipping, so if you have a character you think would be a good fit please tag away. Not interested in hate-shipping/enemies, like Scully/Krycek
Psychic:Scully has a psychic bond to her son, William.
Magical:She is possibly immortal? This is majorly up for debate but a fun idea.
Medical:She is a cancer survivor. She has also struggled with infertility.
Triggers:Cancer, infertility, pregnancy, child loss (daughter died, son was put up for adoption).
(If any of these topics upset you, please let me know and I will avoid them!)
personality
Scully grew up a tomboy, always eager to keep up with her two older brothers and constantly vying for the approval of her parents. Her greatest rebellion was stealing one of her mother's cigarettes when she was 14 - that is, until she made the decision to join the FBI and leave behind her parent's hope for her career as a successful doctor, a decision she would occasionally second guess.

The fear of disappointing people was often a motivator for Scully - whether it was her family, Mulder, or herself, she always felt like she had something to prove, but was stubborn enough to believe she could redeem herself on her terms. She loves her family, but their often judgmental view of her life choices left an undercurrent of distrust that none of them ever fully recovered from.

Scully was raised Catholic, but stopped attending Mass regularly as an adult and eventually found her faith fading the longer she worked on the X-files. After being diagnosed with cancer, Scully continued to struggle with her faith and often butted heads with her mother, who hoped she would return to the church as she got sicker. At the end of all, she seemed to think that having some kind of faith in God brought something to her life that she couldn't find anywhere else. She's hardly devout, but she's more or less come to peace with her scientific mind and her belief in God.

Then, of course, there is Agent Fox Mulder - a wildcard that upset the flow of her life, for better or for worse. Their connection was preternatural; although they were complete opposites in many ways, they were two misfits who shared a deep loneliness and genuine desire for the truth. They were the true definition of soulmates, and he quickly moved beyond her partner to her best friend to something more that there aren't even words for. Although she often felt like she had no one else in the world, Scully also held back from Mulder, afraid to voice her feelings out of fear he wasn't ready to hear them or, probably more importantly, that she wasn't yet able to confront them herself.

Although she can come off as hard-nosed and cold, Scully actually has a great depth of warmth and playfulness that comes out around people she trusts. She's snarky and loves a fair bit of banter. When it's time for business, though, Scully isn't one to mess around and she will take charge of situations in a big way.
history
Dana Katherine Scully was born in Annapolis, MD. A military brat, she moved around with her parents and three siblings before settling back in her home state to get an undergraduate degree in physics from the University of Maryland. She then obtained her medical degree and was recruited to the FBI straight out of school.

After the Academy, Scully taught forensic science briefly at Quantico before she was assigned to a unit called The X-files. Although she her original objective was to bring a scientific lens to (and, perhaps, "debunk") the wild theories of Agent Fox Mulder, she instead found herself embroiled in the strange and often supernatural.

A little over a year into her time on the X-files, Scully was abducted. She eventually returned, barely clinging to life, and that event set forth an array of events that would define her.

The first blow came when Scully's younger sister, Melissa, was murdered during an attempt on Scully's life. Her grieving family barely had time to recover before Scully was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer - an illness she was led to believe was given to her to punish Mulder for his attempt to unveil government conspiracies involving aliens. Scully had come to terms with her mortality and nearly died, but Mulder's persistence led him to a cure for her illness and she eventually recovered.

Scully eventually learned she was also infertile as a result of her abduction. Although she had never put much thought into having children, the fact that the choice was taken from her was devastating. However, she did also find out she had a daughter, Emily, who was likely created as a test of alien/human hybrids. Although Scully rallied to care for Emily and wanted to adopt her, the girl became ill and eventually died. Left devastated once again, Scully also accepted that Emily was an experiment who never should have existed to begin with.

Scully continued to work with Mulder, and despite their trials and the X-files periodically being shut down, they remain in each other's orbit and grow closer and closer. Although it is never explicitly addressed in the show, it is wildly accepted headcanon (through the word of the great Gillian Anderson) that their relationship became sexual at some point, although they were not in an "official" relationship. Regardless, Scully asked Mulder to help her conceive a child via IVF. Their efforts were unsuccessful, though, leaving both of them disappointed.

In the second to last season, Mulder was abducted and Scully discovered she was, miraculously, pregnant. She was assigned a new partner and remained on the X-files through her pregnancy. Mulder eventually returned and quit the FBI, but stayed dedicated to her. She eventually gave birth to their son, William, and she and Mulder finally made their relationship official. By the next season he was on the run again, however he stayed in touch with her to express how much he couldn't wait for him, her, and William to be a family again.

It was not meant to be. Scully discovered that, like Emily, William was likely an experiment and the people who created him would eventually take him. Scully made the heartbreaking decision to give William up in a blind adoption and had to once again come to terms with the life she had envisioned for herself fading away.

She and Mulder eventually uncover a conspiracy about a possible alien invasion. The show ended with them on the run together, holing up in a hotel room in Roswell, New Mexico - once again isolated from the rest of the world, but at least with each other.
